Oritsetimeyin Boosts Science Education with Books

A renowned engineer in the Niger Delta, Engr. Victor Okotie Oritsetimeyin MNSE, has said that he decided to write science books to boost the knowledge of the young ones in science and technology in Nigeria.
Engr. Oritsetimeyin who stated this in Warri, Delta State during the formal launching of his recent books – Mechanical Engineering Technician Practices volume I and Metal work for Colleges and Vocational Institutions in Nigeria said that the books will contribute significantly to learning and education in science oriented subjects.
Engr. Oritsetimeyin, a practicing mechanical engineer with vast knowledge and experience in the oil and gas sector said he wrote these books to reduce the overdependence on foreign authors that lacks local contents in their books, adding that the books will help to support government’s initiatives in professional development of local contents and re-engineering of technical education towards promoting Nigerian economy.
Engr. Oritsetimeyin disclosed that the books have been approved by the Delta State Government Ministry of Education (Technical) for use in Vocational Institutions/Technical Colleges and Polytechnics in Delta State.
He stated that work has commenced on volume two of Mechanical Engineering Technician Practices and would soon be out to the public.
In his opening remarks, the chairman of the occasion and the chairman of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Warri Branch, Engr. Chief Benjamin Esi thanked the author for deeming fit to write these books to increase the technical advancement of Nigeria and commended his efforts and ingenuity in writing these invaluable science books that will increase the knowledge and skills of students both in secondary and tertiary education.

Professor Alfred Edema who unveiled the books, commended the author’s deep insight and wisdom in writing these books for the benefit of students and the public. He said Oritsetimeyin contribution to science education remains commendable. He stressed that the books are not only for engineers or science students, but that anyone that reads these books will gain immensely from the contents.
“The books are great contributions to knowledge. Reading through these books will increase your knowledge. These books contain our local contents. They are products from an experienced engineer with a wide range of field experience over the decades.”
The book Mechanical Engineering Technician Practices Volume One was reviewed by Engr. Tony Misan, MNSE who talked about the importance, said that the book was written primarily for graduate and undergraduate mechanical engineers, mechanical technicians and craftsmen but also of immense value and benefit to non-engineers in associated fields. He explained that the book was well-structured, written in simple and lucid language with examples and illustrations from the oil and gas industry with benefits to all sectors of engineering.
Reviewing the book, the Metalwork for Colleges and Vocational Institutions, Engr. Edward Bright said that the study of Metalwork plays a crucial role in today’s economy and industrial revolution, adding that metalworking skills are essential for manufacturing, construction, transportation as well as technology development. He pointed out that metalwork remains the backbone of industrialization that enables production of machinery, tools and infrastructure.
“Metalwork continues to shape economies and drive industrial progress, making it a vital field of study for future technological advancements, hence, the need for these textbooks.”
The Royal Father of the Day, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse III, (CFR), the Olu of Warri was represented by two palace chiefs, Chief (Engr.) Tony Onuwaje and Chief Samuel Koko.
