The African Institute for Statecraft Int’l (AISI), under the leadership of its Executive Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Adai Edwin Adai, joins the global community in solemn commemoration of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
On this profound occasion, AISI pays tribute to the millions of African women, men, and children who were violently uprooted from their homelands, subjected to unimaginable brutality, and stripped of their dignity and fundamental human rights in one of the most devastating epochs in human history.
The Institute underscores that the transatlantic slave trade was not merely a historical tragedy, but a deeply entrenched structural injustice whose enduring consequences continue to shape economic, political, and social realities across Africa and the global African diaspora. The echoes of this atrocity remain evident in systemic inequalities, underdevelopment, and the distortion of Africa’s historical trajectory.
However, for AISI, remembrance is not a ceremonial exercise, it is a strategic imperative. Preserving the memory of these injustices must be accompanied by a deliberate and sustained commitment to justice, human dignity, and equity in global governance.
The African Institute for Statecraft Int’l calls for renewed and intensified global efforts to confront the legacy of slavery, including addressing its persistent socio-economic and cultural impacts. We emphasize the critical role of education, historical consciousness, and policy-driven dialogue in dismantling racism, discrimination, and all forms of systemic oppression.
Furthermore, AISI reaffirms its unwavering commitment to advancing the global agenda for reparative justice. This includes advocating for frameworks that recognize historical wrongs, promote restitution, and reposition Africa and its diaspora within a fair and just international order.
As we reflect on this solemn day, we are reminded not only of the pain of the past but also of the resilience, strength, and enduring spirit of African peoples. This moment must serve as a call to action, a reaffirmation of our collective duty to build a future anchored on justice, dignity, and inclusive prosperity.
