In a major political realignment, six members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reshaping the political balance within the legislature.
The lawmakers who announced their defection are Hon. Bashar Aliyu Gummi (Gummi I), Hon. Nasiru Abdullahi Maru (Maru North), Barr. Bashir Abubakar Masama (Bukkuyum North), Hon. Bashir Bello (Bungudu West), Hon. Amiru Ahmad Keta (Tsafe West), and Hon. Muktar Nasir Kaura (Kaura North).
Their defection marks a significant moment in Zamfara State’s political landscape and is expected to strengthen the APC’s influence in the House of Assembly.
Political observers believe the development could have far-reaching implications for legislative proceedings, party dominance, and future political alignments in the state, especially as preparations gradually begin for upcoming electoral contests.
