The National Coordinator, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Warriors Forum, Evang. Chinedu Obigwe, has disclosed that the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is fully behind Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s efforts to end the protracted Monday sit-at-home in Anambra.
Obigwe, in a statement on Tuesday, issued on the heels of the total shutdown of Onitsha Main Market on the order of the governor for the failure of traders to resume business on Monday, said those supporting the sit-at-home are the real enemies of Ndi Anambra and Ndigbo at large.
The APGA media chief said Governor Soludo must be commended for taking bold steps to end the Monday sit-at-home, which he said has dealt a heavy blow to the economy of the South-East states.
He said the question begging for an answer is why the sit-at-home must continue in Anambra while the order is no longer being obeyed in Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu and Abia.
“As a matter of fact, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu stated in a widely circulated press release that he is not in support of the Monday’s sit-at-home and advised our people to put an end to it. The people claiming that they are doing it as a civil disobedience measure to protest the detention of Nnamdi Kanu are deceiving themselves. They are using Nnamdi Kanu’s condition to perpetrate criminality and cripple the Igbo economy.
“As for those saying that Governor Soludo should fight for Nnamdi Kanu’s release from detention instead of fighting to end the Monday’s sit-at-home, they are being economical with the truth because Governor Soludo is the first governor in Igboland to call for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu.”
Obigwe recalled that when Soludo came in as Anambra governor, he paid Nnamdi Kanu a visit at the DSS detention facility and had a frank discussion with him.
“Till date, Soludo is among the vocal voices calling for Nnamdi Kanu’s release. The truth remains that Nnamdi Kanu is 100 per cent in support of Governor Soludo’s efforts to end the Monday sit-at-home. All that is expected from Anambra people and those resident in the state is to support Governor Soludo’s efforts to end the Monday sit-at-home because it is for the good of our state.
“Governor Soludo is doing marvelously well in our state and we must support his policies to enable him do more for us. Say no to Monday’s sit-at-home to revive our state economy,” Obigwe said.
