President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as remarkable achievements in the FCT, noting that they contributed to the electoral success of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recent area council elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted elections across the six area councils of the FCT on Saturday, alongside by-elections in parts of Rivers and Kano states. The APC recorded significant victories in the contests.
In a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu congratulated the winners and praised INEC, security agencies, and voters for ensuring a peaceful and credible exercise.
The President particularly applauded Wike—despite his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party—for his performance in the FCT, stating that his developmental strides translated into political gains for the APC.
He also congratulated the APC national leadership and party structures in Kano and Rivers states for their victories at the polls.
President Tinubu urged the newly elected officials to serve with humility, patriotism, and dedication, describing their mandates as a sacred trust. He further called on INEC to continue improving the electoral process to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
