President Bola Tinubu conferred the renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Gilbert Chagoury with the honourary title of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
This development was confirmed in a congratulations message and the Instrument of Conferment of National Honour certificate posted on X by Billionaire Femi Otedola on Monday.
According to the statement, Otedola congratulated Chagoury, describing the honour as a well-deserved feat, citing his visionary and impactful leadership and landmark jobs across the country.
The statement reads, “Congratulations to my role model, dear friend and mentor, Ambassador Gilbert Chagoury, on the well-deserved GCON honour conferred by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Sir, your life is a masterclass in vision, discipline, and steady excellence. From Banana Island to Eko Atlantic City, your work speaks in landmarks, jobs, and lasting impact, and your leadership has inspired generations of Nigerians to think bigger and act bolder.
“This honour is truly well deserved, I celebrate you today and always.”
According to the Instrument of Conferment of National Honour cited by TVC News and shared online, President Tinubu expressed that the national honour is in recognition to Chagoury’s outstanding virtues and in appreciation of his services to Nigeria.
The statement reads, “In exercise of the powers vested in me under section 1(4) of the National Honours Act, I, BOLA AHMED TINUBU, President of the Federal Republie of Nigeria, in recognition of your outstanding virtues and in appreciation of your services to our country, Nigeria, HEREBY award to you to have, and enjoy title, dignity and all the privileges of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) GIVEN at Abuja under my Hand and the Public Seal of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
