The University of Delta,( Unidel) Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, remains committed to effective education typified by potent relevant researches geared towards resolving societal challenges.
The Vice- Chancellor of the university, Prof. Stella Chiemeke, who disclosed this, said that the institution would continue to accord priority to innovation and research in order to promote world-class education and drive economic growth.
Prof. Chiemeke made the disclosure during the maiden edition of UNIDEL Medical Research Hub held at the Agbor Campus.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Patricia Mbah, the Vice Chancellor said the UNIDEL Research Hub was a testament to its dedication to advancing research in medical science and improving healthcare outcomes.
She noted that the topic for the seminar, Collaborative Research: A key to Advancement and lnnovation”, was apt and provided a platform for scholars to share their groundbreaking researches and explore innovative solutions to pressing health challenges.
She charged the staff of the university to key into effective, relevant research for their numerous benefits.
The Hub Administrator, Dr. Anthony Nnamudi, in his opening remarks, pointed out that the Research Hub was a multidisciplinary and collaborative endeavour.
He added that membership was open to scholars in the medical science and beyond.
He also disclosed that the seminar, which would be a regular feature in the university, would be a means of showcasing the academic sagacity and research proficiency of faculty members in Unidel
In the seminar presentation, the guest speaker, Prof. Alexander Naiho, acknowledged the importance of research and noted that every researcher must focus on the type of research that would lead to ground breaking discoveries, products and services.
He enumerated types of collaborative research, benefits of collaborative research, as well as challenges of collaborative research.
Prof. Naiho, also in the presentation, identified the best practices for collaborative research.
The Dean of Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Prof. John lgweh, and the Tetfund Desk Officer, Dr. Yankson lyamah, gave goodwill messages and assured the Research Hub Team of their collaboration.
The Bursar, Mr. Sunny Ikeogwu, the Dean Faculty of Science, Dr. Collins Molua, the Chairman of the University Admission Board, Dr. Mike Ejiodu, Heads of Departments, and students from various faculties attended the seminar.
