An examination in the Department of Accounting at the University of Calabar was abruptly cancelled after an examiner allegedly distributed question papers containing both the questions and their corresponding answers.
According to reports circulating among students, the error was discovered shortly after the exam began, when candidates noticed that the answers were printed on the same sheet as the questions. Despite realizing the mistake early on, students allegedly chose to remain silent and continued writing without drawing attention to it.
The situation reportedly changed moments before the end of the exam when a female student stood up to inform the invigilators about the oversight. Witnesses said she explained that she felt compelled by the Holy Spirit to speak up and could no longer keep quiet about what had happened.
Her disclosure threw the examination hall into confusion, as invigilators moved to verify the claim and confirmed that the answers had indeed been included. The examiner was promptly notified, and the examination was subsequently cancelled.
Students were instructed to stop writing and submit their scripts, with departmental officials announcing that a new date would be scheduled for a fresh examination.
The incident has since sparked widespread debate among students over issues of academic integrity, personal conscience, and shared responsibility during examinations.
As of the time of filing this report, the university management had yet to release an official statement indicating whether disciplinary measures would be taken against the examiner or if a formal investigation would be conducted.
