In a major political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, on the 4th day of June 2026, the Director-General of the Atiku Youth Wing (as he then was), Hon. Rowland Odih, formally dissolved the organisation and handed over its banner to Mr. Tosin Shoga, the Director-General of the City Boy Movement, during a well-attended ceremony in Abuja.
The symbolic handover marked the official end of the Atiku Youth Wing as a political support structure and the commencement of a new movement known as The Bridge for Renewed Hope, a platform dedicated to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his re-election bid in 2027.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Rowland said the decision was reached after extensive consultations with members, key Atiku support structures and stakeholders across political parties across the country, following what he described as the visible and positive impacts of President Tinubu’s administration on national development, economic reforms, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and governance.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda has demonstrated a clear commitment to repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and prosperity, thereby attracting the support of many young Nigerians who are eager to contribute to nation-building.
“The time has come for us to align with a vision that is delivering tangible results for Nigerians. After a thorough assessment of the direction of the country and the achievements recorded under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, we have resolved to formally fold the Atiku Youth Wing and join forces with the City Boy Movement in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Rowland stated.
He noted that the emergence of The Bridge for Renewed Hope represents a strategic effort to unite young Nigerians, political stakeholders, and grassroots supporters behind the President’s developmental vision.
Receiving the banner on behalf of the City Boy Movement, Director-General Tosin Shoga welcomed the former Atiku Youth Wing members into the movement and commended Hon. Rowland and his team for what he described as a courageous and patriotic decision.
Shoga emphasized that the growing coalition of youth groups supporting President Tinubu reflects increasing confidence in the administration’s policies and its commitment to delivering meaningful progress for Nigerians.
The event was attended by youth leaders, political stakeholders, civil society representatives, and supporters from various parts of the country, who expressed optimism about the future of the new platform, The Bridge for Renewed Hope.
Hon. Rowland further announced that The Bridge for Renewed Hope would immediately hit the ground running by commencing nationwide mobilization and online and offline engagement activities aimed at deepening support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and promoting greater youth participation in governance.
He called on Nigerians, particularly the youths, to continue supporting reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as they are designed to strengthen the economy, create opportunities, and secure a brighter future for the nation.
The ceremony concluded with the official unveiling of The Bridge for Renewed Hope and a renewed pledge by members to work towards the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and his re-election in 2027.
