The Adamawa State Youth Christian Movement for Change (ADSYCMC) has endorsed the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, for the 2027 Adamawa State governorship election.
The group made its position known at a press conference in Adamawa State, saying the decision followed consultations, prayers and an assessment of contenders across the various political parties.
The endorsement came shortly after Haske resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the APM, where he subsequently emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Chairman of ADSYCMC, Comrade Yakubu Maigari, said the organisation comprised Christian youths drawn from churches and Christian communities across the state’s 21 local government areas.
He said the group settled for Haske based on what it described as his record in business, youth empowerment, philanthropy and humanitarian activities.
“Our decision was not based on sentiment, but rather on track records, capacity and character,”
Maigari said.
According to him, the group had monitored Haske’s activities and contributions to society, particularly his grassroots mobilisation efforts and initiatives aimed at empowering young people and supporting vulnerable members of the society.
The group also described Haske as a politician it believes promotes inclusion across ethnic and religious lines.
“Adamawa needs a healer, not a divider. We have found in Haske a lover of humanity, a compassionate leader with a heart of gold and willing to sacrifice all in the interest of humanity,” Maigari said.
The youth movement said its priorities included development, job creation, security and the empowerment of youths and women.
It further pledged to mobilise support for the APM candidate across the state’s 226 wards.
“We will canvas votes for Abdulrahman Bashir Haske in all nooks and crannies of Adamawa State,” the group declared.
The organisation also called on Christian youths, women, men and other residents who share its stated development concerns to join the movement ahead of the election.
Haske, who previously sought the APC governorship ticket, has identified agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic empowerment, security and accountable governance among the areas he intends to prioritise if elected.
His earlier campaign agenda also placed emphasis on agriculture, youth inclusion and economic development.
The latest endorsement adds to the series of political realignments and public declarations of support emerging in Adamawa as parties and candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 governorship contest.
