Another drama in the Senate with Kogi Central senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, at the centre of it.
This time, the conflict is between her and the Chairman of the Senate Committee on North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Senator Titus Zam, over her alleged exclusion from the Senate Committee.
The Senate Committee had just ended its meeting, scheduled for Monday, when Akpoti-Uduaghan, accompanied by some of her legislative and security aides, stormed the office of the chairman to explain why she was not a member of the committee.
Zam’s security details and legislative aides quickly prevented her from getting into their principal’s office, sensing the move to stop her from advancing any further.
Akpoti-Uduaghan threatened to go live on her social media platforms.
HER threat didn’t sit well with Zam’s aides, causing a direct confrontation between them and Akpoti-Uduaghan’s security aides, with a few slaps here and there.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan then quickly grabs a seat, blocking the entrance door to the office of Senator Zam and preventing anyone from going in to meet the senator. who, all the while, was inside.
It took the intervention of Senator Niyi Adegbonmire, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, to calm frayed nerves, prevail on Akpoti-Uduaghan to leave Zam’s office, and restore normalcy.
Findings by Arise News revealed that membership of the Senate Committee is selected from across the country’s six geopolitical zones and that only two senators are selected from each state.
