Olooye Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State following the party’s primary election conducted across the state on Friday.
Announcing the results on Saturday evening, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Hon. Rasak Salinsile, declared that Chief Adegoke secured 16,051 votes to clinch the party’s ticket.
According to the results, Adegoke defeated four other aspirants in the keenly contested primary. Chief Bisi Ilaka came second with 11,415 votes, while Chief Gbemilade Alagbe garnered 241 votes. Dr. Azeez Adeduntan polled 155 votes, and Barrister Niyi Aborishade received 67 votes.
With this victory, Adegoke, the Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, becomes the ADC’s flag bearer for the February 2027 Oyo State Governorship election.
Hon. Salinsile explained that the delay in announcing the results was due to the vast geographical spread of Oyo State and the late arrival of results from some parts of the state.
He noted that the final results were only fully collated and received on Saturday afternoon before the official declaration was made.
The emergence of Adegoke marks a significant milestone for the ADC in Oyo State as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
