Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday visited Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers, at his residence in Abuja.
The visit comes a day after Atiku emerged as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following the party’s primary election.
Atiku was accompanied by notable figures including Aminu Tambuwal, former governor of Sokoto, Ralph Nwosu, former national chairman of the ADC, and other party leaders.
Sources say the closed-door meeting focused on strengthening unity within the party and broader consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Details of the discussions were not disclosed publicly as of the time of this report.
The development follows reactions to the ADC primaries, in which Atiku defeated Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
Both Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen had raised concerns about aspects of the process.
Atiku’s team has noted the need for reconciliation and collective effort to build a strong platform for the upcoming polls.
