Family members and former aides of former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, have dismissed as false and malicious widespread social media reports claiming that the ex-governor had died.
The rumour, which circulated on several online platforms on Wednesday night, triggered anxiety among supporters, political associates, and residents of Delta State before close family members and former aides moved swiftly to debunk the claim.
Reacting to the report, Orode Uduaghan, daughter of the former governor and former Delta State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, described the claim as nothing more than a rumour.
In a brief response posted online, she stated: “A rumour! He is fine.”
Also reacting, Uduaghan’s former Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Izeze Rume Yakubu Reuben, said the former governor was alive, recuperating, and in good health.
In a strongly worded statement, Izeze said: “He is alive, resting, and recuperating. For those whose concerns were genuine, we say thank you for your concern.
“For the malicious, may the death you so gloatingly wish others who have caused you no personal harm remain a permanent resident in your home and family.
“Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON, is alive and has got many more healthier years on Earth by God’s grace.”
Adding his voice, Uduaghan’s former Director of Protocol, Dr. Chris Oghenechowen, also dismissed the reports, describing them as fake news.
“FAKE NEWS. PLS DISREGARD,” he wrote.
The coordinated responses from family members and close associates appeared to have settled growing concerns generated by the viral rumour, with supporters expressing relief following confirmation that the former governor remained alive.
Uduaghan, who governed Delta State from 2007 to 2015, remains one of the state’s leading political figures and has continued to play advisory roles in public affairs since leaving office. The false report of his death sparked widespread reactions across social media before being firmly debunked by those closest to him.
