The Medserve-LUTH Cancer Centre (MLCC) has retained its title as Nigeria’s Most Outstanding Oncology Centre for the fourth consecutive year, further cementing its reputation as the country’s leading provider of advanced cancer care.
The prestigious recognition was conferred at the 12th Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award (NHEA), held on June 26, 2026, in recognition of the Centre’s outstanding contributions to oncology services and patient care.
Located within the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Idi-Araba, Lagos, MLCC is regarded as the largest and best-equipped cancer treatment facility in West Africa. The Centre combines cutting-edge technology with highly skilled clinical expertise to deliver comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer care, significantly reducing the need for Nigerians to seek treatment abroad.
The fourth consecutive award underscores MLCC’s unwavering commitment to expanding access to world-class oncology services, investing in modern infrastructure, and providing compassionate, patient-centred care that meets international standards.
Since its establishment, the Centre has transformed cancer treatment across Nigeria and the West African sub-region by offering integrated radiotherapy, chemotherapy, diagnostic, and supportive care services. The latest recognition reaffirms MLCC’s leadership in advancing cancer treatment and improving patient outcomes across the region.
The Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award is organised by Global Health Project and Resources in collaboration with the Anadach Group. The 2026 ceremony brought together key stakeholders in Nigeria’s health sector. The Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, attended as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, served as Chief Host.
The Chief Clinical Coordinator of the Medserve-LUTH Cancer Centre, Dr. Muhammed Habeebu, received the award on behalf of the Centre.
The recognition further reinforces LUTH’s standing as one of Nigeria’s foremost tertiary healthcare institutions, committed to excellence in specialised healthcare delivery, research, innovation, and patient-centred care. It also highlights the success of the partnership between LUTH and Medserve in establishing a world-class oncology centre that continues to redefine cancer care in Nigeria and across West Africa.
The Centre noted that the achievement reflects the Federal Government’s commitment, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, to strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system and expanding access to quality medical services for all Nigerians.
