Following the approval by the Inspector- General of Police (IGP), the Foundation for Correction of Moral Decadence (FCMD) Attitudinal Change reorientation programme for Nigeria Police Force personnel in the entire 36 commands, including FCT, has kicked off.
The moral adjustment seminar was flagged off in Lokoja, Kogi State, and a total of 21 such seminars have been held in 21 commands of the Nigeria Police Force ( NPF) of which the Ogun State Command, headquartered in Abeokuta, held theirs last Thursday.
At the event, the National President of the FCMD, Dr. Joseph Danley, said every Nigerian, beginning from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu down to the least person in Nigeria needed effective reorientation.
Danley, who made the lead presentation at the robustly attended occasion, noted that an effective paradigm shift in terms of mindset reorientation remained sine-qua-non if Nigeria was to overcome the cumbersome challenges it now faces on account of the wrong values and the related wrong mindset of many of its citizens, including its political and other leaders.
The FCMD National President said that Nigeria was facing serious development challenges in spite of its abundant endowment with natural and other vital resources needed for its sustainable development because of the wrong mindset of its citizens which invariably leads them to frequently taking the wrong decisions that impair effective and accelerated development of the country and its citizens.
Danley emphasised the need for Nigerians, especially those in positions of authority, to effectively reorientate themselves along the sub-themes of the seminar which included deference to positive time consciousness ,
personal hygiene,
professionalism, patriotism and the genuine fear of, and respect for, God.
He equally canvassed for a culture of unconditional love for country and humanity, sufficient preparation for
retirement,
adequate maintenance, sustenance and preservation of public assets as well as general character overhaul.
He noted that Nigeria could amaze the rest of the world by its accelerated development, if only its leaders and other citizens could always genuinely act selflessly and diligently in the greater public interest.
In his remarks at the event, the Commissioner of Police, ( CP) , Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, appreciated the FCMD for its wonderful training and rearmament efforts.
CP Ojajuni added that the work of the foundation was strategically relevant for effective national rebirth and commended the FCMD, under the watch of Dr. Danley, its National President, for the effort to restore core values to the national psyche.
According to him, all Nigerian institutions need effective moral rearmament for the accelerated wholesome development of the society.
The occasion attracted the cream of the state police command, including Deputy Commissioners (DCPs) Oliver Ezirim ( State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID); Adeoye Olugbemiga ( Operations), and Toyin Afolaogun (Finance and Administration).
The seminar, which attracted the rank and file of the command, was well attended.
