The Member representing Ika South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Festus Chukwuyem Okoh, popularly known as Chuky Dandy, has said the people of Ika South are comfortable with the zoning arrangement for the Delta State House of Assembly seat to Abavo.
Okoh, an indigene of Agbor Kingdom, made the position known while speaking at the Ika South Councillors Empowerment Programme in Ward 1, Agbor Obi, where he appealed to the people of Agbor to support the zoning arrangement and vote for the Ika South APC candidate, Hon. Mrs. Cordilia Anyangwu, in the 2027 election.
According to the lawmaker, the current arrangement reflects the established rotation of political positions between Agbor and Abavo over the years.
He specifically appealed to the people of Agbor Kingdom to give maximum support to the Abavo candidate, stressing that it was the turn of Abavo to occupy the Ika South seat in the Delta State House of Assembly.
Hon. Okoh noted that the House of Representatives position had been zoned to Agbor, adding that, against the backdrop of the existing rotational arrangement, any son or daughter of Agbor seeking the House of Assembly ticket would be doing so outside the agreed zoning arrangement.
He, therefore, urged Agbor people to respect the rotation and support the candidate produced under the zoning arrangement.
The lawmaker also commended the political leadership of Abavo for what he described as a pragmatic approach to the 2027 election by presenting a single candidate for the House of Assembly position.
He said the decision had helped reduce the workload for the party and provided a clear direction for the political process within the constituency.
Describing Hon. Anyangwu as experienced, strong, focused and visionary, Okoh expressed confidence in her capacity to continue from where he would stop if elected.
He .called for unity among the people of Ika South Local Government Area, stressing the importance of maintaining the longstanding relationship and rotational understanding between Agbor and Abavo in the interest of the constituency.
