Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, has recounted what he described as strange occurrences following his fight against cultism.
He claimed that a bird died in his office after the demolition of the Black House on Sapele Road.
The governor made the disclosure while addressing worshippers in a church, where he spoke about the importance of prayers and attributed his experiences to victory in his battle against cultism.
“Your prayers matter. Fighting cultism, I praise God. The first, when we broke down the black house on Sapele Road, a bird died in my office. My orderly came to tell me. He’s here in this church now, that a bird died close to my seat. I said, don’t worry, just throw it away. I don’t even want to see. Because that battle has been won,” he said.
Okpebholo also narrated an incident he claimed occurred after he won the election, saying he was about to go to bed when something stopped him. According to him, he subsequently discovered a dead vulture on his bed.
“When I won the election, Sylvester is sitting with me here. We went to the house. I was tired. I had not slept for days, and I wanted to jump into the bed. Something held me back. I looked on the bed. I saw a vulture on my bed, dead. It’s not living anymore. That is a victory,” the governor said.
He suggested that the incidents were connected to his fight against cultism, adding that abandoning the battle would have meant turning away from God.
The governor subsequently appealed to Christians to pray for President Bola Tinubu to secure a decisive victory in Edo State.
“So, for this reason, I have also come to the children of God. I want President to win in Edo, to win very big, and I need your prayers,” Okpebholo said.
