ADC Accuses Tinubu Govt of Selective Justice Over El-Rufai, Malami Cases
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the administration of Bola Tinubu of applying justice selectively in the ongoing legal cases involving former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said while no citizen is above the law, enforcement actions must be consistent, transparent, and free of political calculation.
ADC expressed concern over what it described as rapid custodial transfers of the two opposition figures between law enforcement agencies while investigations are ongoing, warning that such actions create the perception of pre-trial punishment.
The party contrasted their cases with another high-profile matter involving allegations of passport forgery and international conspiracy, where the accused were granted bail and proceedings are advancing in court.
ADC reaffirmed that Malami and El-Rufai are presumed innocent under the Constitution and pledged to stand by them as they assert their legal rights.
It called on authorities to clarify the status of investigations, adhere strictly to constitutional safeguards against arbitrary detention, and ensure equal application of the law regardless of political affiliation.
