The APC in Kogi State has announced its candidates for the nine federal constituencies following peaceful and successful primary elections conducted across the state.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has officially unveiled its candidates for the nine House of Representatives seats ahead of the forthcoming general elections following what the party described as peaceful, transparent and credible primary elections conducted across the state.
The party said the primary elections, held on Saturday, recorded massive participation of members and ended without rancour, further strengthening internal democracy and unity within the APC in Kogi State.
In a statement issued by the Kogi State Publicity Secretary of the party, Engr. Hamzat Isa-Amoka, the APC congratulated all successful candidates and commended party faithful and stakeholders for ensuring a smooth and orderly exercise across the various federal constituencies.
Among the prominent winners was Rt. Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide, who emerged as the APC candidate for Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopa-Muro Federal Constituency after recording a sweeping victory during the primary election.
Also announced as flag bearer was Architect Salman Idris, who secured the APC ticket for Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, while Hon. Sanni Salau Ogembe emerged victorious in Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency.
For Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency, Engr. Muhammed Ahovi Yusuf clinched the party’s ticket, while Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem emerged candidate for Ajaokuta Federal Constituency.
In Lokoja/Koton-Karfe Federal Constituency, Hon. Danladi Aguye secured victory to emerge as the APC flag bearer ahead of the general elections.
The party also announced Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali as candidate for Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency.
Similarly, Hon. Paul Haruna Gowon was elected to represent the APC in Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, while Hon. Victor Omale Ojogbane emerged candidate for Idah/Igalamela/Ofu/Ibaji Federal Constituency.
The APC leadership described the successful conduct of the primaries as a reflection of the growing political maturity and internal democratic culture within the party in Kogi State.
According to the statement, party members across the state demonstrated unity, discipline and commitment throughout the exercise, leading to what observers have described as one of the most peaceful primary elections conducted by a political party in recent times within the state.
“The Party congratulates all the successful candidates on their emergence and commends party faithfuls and stakeholders across the state for ensuring a peaceful, transparent and credible primary process,” the statement read.
The party further urged all candidates and supporters to remain united ahead of the general elections, stressing that collective commitment and cooperation would strengthen the APC’s chances across the state.
Political stakeholders within the party have also described the emergence of the candidates as a major step toward consolidating the APC’s dominance in Kogi State politics.
The successful completion of the House of Representatives primary elections is part of the APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, with other categories of primaries expected to continue in line with the party’s revised timetable.
