In a sheer display of demonism, bandits have killed a businessman, Mallam Auwal, in Kaduna State despite receiving N12 million ransom.
Auwal was abducted from his home in Hayin Babban Saura Police Quarters.
His family scrambled to raise and deliver the N12m demanded for his release, but the kidnappers allegedly killed him.
They claimed they had buried his body.
It was further learnt that the bandits seized Auwal’s son, who personally delivered the ransom to secure his father’s freedom.
A Salatul Gha’ib (funeral prayer in absentia) was held for Mallam Auwal at Murtala Square in Kaduna on Wednesday August 12, 2026.
Family members, neighbours and community leaders gathered to pray for the deceased and to seek divine intervention for the safe return of his son, who is still being held captive.
