The Benue State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in connection with the killing of the state Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Ardo Risku Mohammed, and his associate, Yakubu Isa.
The arrests were made during a tactical operation carried out in the early hours of June 27, 2026, in Otukpo Local Government Area following intelligence gathering by security operatives.
Those arrested are Titus Thyodenda (25), Utibe Sam (20), Owoicho Ameh (18), Sunday Useni (21), Sunday Ogbanje (46), Daniel Raphael (23), Adokole John (24), Samuel Ogazi (32), Agbo Daniel (25), and Onazi James (30).
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, confirmed the arrests, describing them as a significant breakthrough in the investigation.
Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, commended the officers involved for their swift response and professionalism, assuring that everyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He noted that investigations are ongoing and indicated that more arrests could follow as the police continue to track other suspects linked to the crime.
Ardo Risku Mohammed and Yakubu Isa were killed on Friday when gunmen ambushed them at the Okudu community while returning from a peace meeting convened by the Divisional Police Officer in Idekpa.
The Commissioner of Police appealed to residents to remain calm and support security agencies by providing credible information that could aid ongoing investigations, reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Benue State.
