In an effort to deepen the efficiency of its officers and men, the Delta State Police Command has exposed its personnel to advanced forensic and intelligence – led investigation.
The officers participated in a specialised two-day training on forensic science and fraud investigation techniques.
The programme, organised by the Nigeria Police Force(NPF) in collaboration with Pearl Forensic Risk Advisory Services, brought together officers from Area Commands, Divisions, Tactical Units, and other departments across the state.
The training was convened by HRH Erelu Dr Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu and focused on strengthening officers’ capacity in investigating financial crimes, cyber-related offences, fraud, terrorism financing, and other evolving security threats.
In his opening remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the organisers and expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for approving and prioritising the training initiative.
He noted that modern policing required continuous learning, especially in areas such as forensic science, digital evidence management, intelligence-gathering, and cybercrime investigation.
The Commissioner urged participants to fully engage with the programme and apply the knowledge gained to enhance investigative efficiency across the Command.
Participants were trained on key areas including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF), collaboration between the NPF and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), public sector fraud investigations, crime scene management, evidence collection techniques, cyber and digital forensics, and the use of modern financial crime investigation tools.
The sessions were facilitated by leading experts such as Prof. Suleiman A. S. Aruwa, Dr Stacy Ann Nwodo, and Mr Dilichukwu Alfred Ononugbo, who provided practical insights through case studies, interactive discussions, and hands-on exercises. The training exposed officers to global best practices in forensic investigation, financial intelligence, and prosecution support.
Speaking at the event, the convener, HRH Erelu Dr Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu, emphasised the importance of continuous capacity building for law enforcement officers in order to effectively tackle financial crimes, cybercrime, corruption, and other complex criminal activities.
The Delta State Police Command stated that the programme formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen professionalism and improve operational effectiveness in line with global policing standards and the vision of the Inspector-General of Police for a more technology-driven and service-oriented Police Force.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to continuous training and capacity development as a key strategy in addressing emerging security challenges across the state.
