Egypt,last night, earned a spot kick victory to book a place in the round of 16 at the FIFA Soccer World Cup holding in America, Canada and Mexico.
The victory was historic for The Pharaohs who earned their first ever knockout win.
The Egyptians established some semblance of dominance early in the game, with full effective control at the last third, in the midfield and upfront.
Following their sizzling attacks, their efforts paid the desired dividend when they found the net of a great effort by…Ashour in the 13 th minute of play.
After the goal,the game descended into a ding dong , with Australia seeking to overwhelm the attacking Egyptians.
With neither team sustaining dominance as the first stanza of the game wound down, the curtain fell on the first half.
On resumption of play, both teams resumed assaults on their opponents ‘ area,in an effort to hit the back of the net.
This continued until the Australians had their way in the 55th minute of play when Mohammed Hany successfully struck for the equalizer.
Thereafter, Egypt piled ceaseless pressure on the Australians who showed great team spirit and resilience,until the regular time of play ran out.
In the subsequent extra time, the efforts of both tedns failed to yield the desire fruit , and thus ended on a note of a lond goal apiece.
In the subsequent spot kicks, Australia lost two while Egypt netted all four kicks taken.
Both Argentina, the defending champions, and shock team and amazing miracle team, Cape Verde, were battling it out at press time last night.
