A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Cyril Egwuatu, has passed away at the age of 80.
Egwuatu, who represented Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, died on March 31, 2026, at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu.
A trained engineer, Egwuatu studied in the former West Germany before venturing into public service and politics, where he left an enduring mark through his representation of his constituents and commitment to national development.
He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren, including Dr. Vivian Egwuatu, a lecturer at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.
The family has announced that burial arrangements will be made public in due course.
