Hon. Prince Michael Diden, popularly known as Ejele, has withdrawn the court case he instituted against Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, following a reconciliation meeting involving key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta South.
The reconciliation meeting was held at Diden’s residence in Sapele, Delta State, and was attended by senior party leaders, government officials and stakeholders from across the senatorial district.
Those present included Senator Joel-Onowakpo; Delta South APC Chairman, Prince Emmam Amgbaduba; the Delta State Chief of Staff, Prince Johnson Erijo; Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council, Hon. Warri Ovoke Friday; chairmen of the eight local government areas in Delta South; and other party leaders.
At the meeting, Diden announced his decision to withdraw the suit and pledged his support, alongside his political associates and supporters, for Senator Joel-Onowakpo and the APC.
He also pledged to work with other party stakeholders to strengthen the party’s structures and mobilise support for APC candidates in Delta South and across Delta State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development is expected to ease tensions within the APC in Delta South and strengthen efforts to present a united front ahead of the elections.
Reacting to the reconciliation, Joel-Onowakpo commended Delta State Governor and APC leader in the state, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as his efforts to promote unity and reconciliation within the party.
The senator said the governor had demonstrated leadership, wisdom and commitment to building a united APC in the state.
“I want to give special and heartfelt appreciation to our leader in Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State.
“His Excellency has demonstrated uncommon leadership, wisdom and large-heartedness in uniting the APC family in Delta State.
“This peace we have achieved today is a reflection of his fatherly role and his genuine desire to build one strong, united APC that will deliver for all our candidates,” he said.
Joel-Onowakpo also commended Diden for choosing reconciliation and the interest of the party over their differences.
He assured Diden and his supporters of full integration into the party, saying their participation would strengthen the APC’s political structure and electoral mobilisation in Delta South.
“I assure him that he and his supporters will be fully integrated and respected. Together as one formidable family, we will work to deliver all our candidates in the forthcoming elections,” the senator said.
The reconciliation comes as political parties intensify efforts to strengthen their structures and mobilise support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
APC stakeholders in Delta South welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the renewed cooperation among party leaders and members would improve the party’s electoral prospects in the senatorial district and boost support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates.
