The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled an international cocaine trafficking cartel allegedly using Nigeria as a transit route for shipping illicit drugs to the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.
The agency also arrested the alleged Nigerian arrowhead of the syndicate, identified as Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known online as “KC Luxury,” as he allegedly attempted to flee the country.
The NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), disclosed this while addressing journalists in Lagos on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
Marwa described the operation as one of the agency’s most significant narcotics investigations in recent times, saying it resulted in the largest cocaine seizure recorded through a courier company in Nigeria.
According to the NDLEA boss, the investigation began following the interception of 184.50 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in a consignment being processed for onward export through a courier logistics channel in Lagos.
Following the seizure, Marwa ordered the establishment of a Special Investigation Team to trace the wider network behind the shipment, including couriers, intermediaries and alleged masterminds.
The agency estimated that the cartel could have realised as much as ₦39 billion from the consignment through its international distribution network.
Working with the management of the courier company involved, NDLEA operatives reportedly uncovered a network of intermediary companies and individuals allegedly used to process and move the cocaine.
‘KC Luxury’ Arrested at Lagos Airport
The investigation led to the arrest of two key suspects, including Lawal Mujab Kehinde, a staff member of the logistics company through which the cocaine was processed.
The NDLEA said investigations established that Kehinde allegedly had a sustained relationship with the cartel’s Nigerian coordinator and helped package and process consignments destined for the UK, other European countries and Asia.
The agency also arrested Afolabi Kazeem Michael, known as KC Luxury, whom investigators identified as the alleged Nigerian coordinator or arrowhead of the cartel.
According to the NDLEA, Afolabi allegedly operated publicly as a social media influencer and businessman dealing in gold, jewellery and luxury goods while allegedly coordinating a cocaine trafficking pipeline stretching from South America through Nigeria to international destinations.
Marwa said Afolabi was arrested on August 13, 2026, at the boarding gate of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The NDLEA said the suspect was allegedly attempting to leave Nigeria on a business-class flight to Paris when operatives apprehended him.
He was reportedly found with €7,750, £2,800 and ₦100,000 in cash, as well as expensive jewellery.
A subsequent search of his luxury apartment on Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, also led to the recovery of exotic vehicles
