*As Commercial Motorcyclist Excretes 100 Wraps of Meth In Lagos
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 48-year old commercial motorcycle rider who excreted 100 wraps of methamphetamine after attempting to traffic the illicit drug through Lagos, while operatives also intercepted Canadian Loud cannabis valued at over N10.3 billion at the Apapa seaport.
The anti-narcotics agency disclosed that the suspect, Onyechere Daniel Chinadu, was arrested by NDLEA operatives at the Terminal 2 Arrival Hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, on June 28, 2026, after arriving from Madagascar via Addis Ababa on an Ethiopian Airlines flight.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, officers who searched the suspect’s checked-in backpack recovered 87 wraps of methamphetamine concealed inside clothing.
During interrogation, Chinadu reportedly confessed that he had worked as an Okada rider in the Oke-Afa area of Lagos for 15 years before a Uganda-based associate allegedly recruited him into drug trafficking.
He told investigators that he swallowed several pellets of methamphetamine in Uganda before travelling to Madagascar to deliver the illicit consignment.
However, upon arriving in Madagascar, immigration authorities allegedly denied him entry, forcing his sponsor, identified as Ozor Igo, to reroute him to Lagos, where he was eventually arrested.
The NDLEA said the suspect could not state the exact number of drug pellets he had ingested, prompting officers to place him under excretion observation for three days.
Between his arrest and July 1, Chinadu excreted an additional 13 pellets, bringing the total number of recovered wraps to 100, with a combined weight of 1.715 kilogrames of methamphetamine.
In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives, working alongside officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS)and other security agencies, intercepted 8,287 nylon bags of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 4,143.5 kilogrammes during a joint examination of a container at the Apapa seaport on Friday, July 10.
The agency said the shipment, imported from Montreal, Canada, has an estimated street value of more than N10.3 billion.
According to the statement, the seizure followed weeks of intelligence gathering, tracking and surveillance by operatives of the NDLEA’s Maritime Intelligence Unit in collaboration with the Apapa Strategic Command, beginning from the shipment’s departure from Canada.
The agency also disclosed that its operatives attached to the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) thwarted an attempt to export 2.5 kilograms of skunk, another strain of cannabis, concealed inside a gas compressor destined for Cyprus through a Lagos-based courier company.
