The Grassroots Mobilization Network, GMN, a support group of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has described the victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Accord Party in the just concluded off-season governorship election in Osun State as a clear pointer for the 2027 general elections.
The group in a statement issued Sunday in Abuja shortly after INEC declared Gov. Adeleke the winner, by its spokesperson, Mr. Peter Emeka, said the result showed that Nigerians are tired of intimidation, harassment and poor governance of the APC.
The determination of the people of Osun State to vote and protect their votes exposed the myth of political invincibility built around President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It is a clear message that if the people are determined they can defeat President Tinubu, his party, the APC, and all their interests in 2027.
The group noted that despite acts of intimidation and violence during the election, the people of Osun stood firm and ensured that the All Progressives Congress, APC, was defeated.
“The people of Osun defeated President Bola Tinubu, 32 APC governors who were on ground, and the Police”.
“Despite all the harassment, intimidation and reported killings, Adeleke still triumphed through the power of the people. This is democracy in action.” Emeka stated.
The GMN spokesperson commended Osun voters for their resilience and determination to protect their votes.
“We salute the good people of Osun who stood their ground to ensure the APC was defeated, he said.
“The people of Nigeria are ready to send the APC packing in the 2027 general election.
In 2027, the masses are going to collect APC money and then vote for opposition parties. That is the new political reality.”
Emeka added that the outcome in Osun should serve as a signal to the APC, stressing that Nigerians will reject any party that fails to deliver good governance, security, and welfare.
The group congratulated Governor Adeleke and the people of Osun for defending democracy, and reaffirmed ADC’s commitment to grassroots mobilization ahead of 2027.
