Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar of Zamfara has formally accepted his appointment as Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections.
Yari, who represents Zamfara West in the Senate and is a former governor of Zamfara State, expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the ruling party for entrusting him with the responsibility.
The campaign council was unveiled by the Presidency on Saturday in an announcement endorsed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Under the structure, President Tinubu will serve as Chairman, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be Vice-Chairman I. Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was named Secretary.
The 223-member council is structured into various directorates responsible for campaign strategy, mobilisation and other electoral activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Reacting to his appointment, Yari said he accepted the responsibility with “deep gratitude and full seriousness,” thanking the President, the party leadership and other stakeholders for their confidence in him.
He described the nationwide campaign as more than a political contest, saying it would provide an opportunity for the APC to engage Nigerians across the country on the future of the nation.
Yari pledged to discharge his responsibilities with discipline, unity and mutual respect, adding that mobilisation for the campaign would commence immediately.
He also called on Nigerians across political divides to focus on development and national progress, stressing that the APC would seek their support based on its achievements rather than rhetoric.
“By the grace of God, and with the effort of us all, we will deliver victory in January 2027,” he said.
