We have lost our dearly beloved elder brother and first in-law, Ambassador Sir (Dr.) Paddy Kemdi Njoku, KSJI, KSS—a man whose life exemplified service, wisdom, humility, and unwavering devotion to humanity. His passing on May 26, 2026, has left a profound void in our hearts, especially within the Ihedioha family. Uncle Paddy was not only our senior brother but also a dependable source of counsel, strength, encouragement, and inspiration.
Born on August 28, 1950, Dr. P. K. Njoku was an accomplished administrator, respected mediator, distinguished diplomat, and devout Catholic who served with integrity and excellence in both public and private life. A true Pan-Nigerian, he distinguished himself in several strategic positions, including as a University Administrator, Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Examinations Council (NECO), President of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), and Commissioner of the Imo State Judicial Service Commission. In every role, he demonstrated fairness, diligence, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to the common good.
A mercurial wordsmith and gifted multilingualist, Dr. Njoku was actively involved in numerous professional, socio-cultural, and faith-based organisations within and beyond Nigeria. His intellect, eloquence, and deep understanding of people made him an exceptional bridge-builder and a man of remarkable influence.
Above all, Uncle Paddy was a compassionate and generous soul whose kindness touched countless lives. His legacy of selfless service, humility, and unwavering commitment to humanity will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though this loss is deeply painful, we take solace in the enduring legacy he leaves behind and pray that Almighty God grants him eternal rest and comforts all who mourn him.
