Those were the words with which Dr. David Olofu, t
he Senatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr David Olofu has charged members of his newly inaugurated campaign organisation to work assiduously towards rescuing the Senatorial district from the clutches of poverty, hunger, poor infrastructure and bad governance.
Olofu gave the charge on Wednesday in Otukpo during the inauguration of a 63-member senatorial campaign team comprising Directors, Deputy Directors and other officials ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He told the campaign team that the hopes and aspirations of millions of people in Benue South rested on their shoulders, urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them through commitment and hard work.
The ADC candidate tasked the team with taking the party’s message to every community and polling Units, House to house, door to door by creating awareness and canvassing support for ADC candidates across the board.
He stressed that the assignment required greater commitment because ADC was an opposition party, adding that members must work harder, go the extra mile and deepen grassroots mobilisation to secure victory.
Olofu urged the campaigners to “knock on all doors”, describing grassroots mobilisation as critical to the party’s prospects in the 2027 elections.
He described the newly inaugurated members as people of proven integrity and impeccable character, contrasting them with what he described as “tinted names” allegedly contained in the Tinubu campaign organisation.
Responding on behalf of the members, former two-term member of the Benue State House of Assembly representing Oju State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Egbiri Idaah, thanked Olofu for the confidence reposed in them and pledged that the team would not disappoint him or the party.
Idaah assured the candidate that the campaign organisation would discharge its responsibilities with commitment and determination towards securing victory for ADC and its candidates.
The inauguration was witnessed by Campaign Council Chairman, Sir John Ngbede; Director-General, Chief Chris Abah, and other party leaders and stakeholders.
The campaign activities later shifted to Ado Local Government Area, where Olofu and other ADC leaders continued their thank-you tour following his emergence as the party’s senatorial candidate.
The delegation was received by the local ADC Chairman, Hon. Ejike Shagari, alongside party members and supporters.
Addressing the gathering, former Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Stephen Onmeje, described ADC as a peaceful alternative for Benue South, noting that its candidates emerged through peaceful and transparent processes.
Candidates for Ado State Constituency and Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, Hon. Nelson Ogbu and Hon. Steven Adoyi, respectively, also appealed to the people to support ADC, citing the need for responsive leadership.
Olofu urged the electorate to support the party in the spirit of fairness and collective progress, stressing the importance of leadership that prioritises the welfare of the people.
The visit culminated in the inauguration of a 24-member Ado Local Government Campaign Council headed by Hon. Agaba Ede to coordinate grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
