DSS Rescues Kidnapped Five-Year-Old in Kano, Arrests Suspect
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have rescued a five-year-old boy, Muhammad Haruna, who was abducted in Kano State, following a targeted security operation.
Security sources disclosed that the rescue operation was carried out at Danzaki Village in Minjibir Local Government Area at approximately 7:40 p.m. on February 12, 2026, after authorities received a formal complaint regarding the child’s abduction.
According to the source, the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of ₦15 million from the victim’s family.
Acting on intelligence, the DSS tactical team tracked the suspected kidnappers and conducted a coordinated operation that resulted in the safe rescue of the child.
During the operation, operatives arrested a 20-year-old suspect, identified as Aminu Mukhtar, who was allegedly negotiating ransom payment with the victim’s father through a mobile phone line.
Preliminary interrogation reportedly revealed that the suspect confessed to abducting the child with the intention of collecting ransom.
The suspect is currently in custody, while further investigations are ongoing to determine whether other accomplices were involved.
Meanwhile, the rescued child has been placed under protective care as authorities continue with necessary procedures.
