Social media giant, Meta, parent of Facebook, has been fined a whopping $567m by an American court.
The fine was imposed by a judge in New Mexico.
The court said the fine was imposed because the platform and its operators and owners had failed to adequately respond to the child safety concerns among the public.
It followed law suits by parents and others who had accused Meta of inadequate protection for children exposed to materials on the platform.
The fine followed an earlier $375m imposed on the company by another American court.
In imposing the $567m , the court said that Meta had become a public nuisance by its inability to address the safety concerns raised by the public.
Meta, in reaction to the imposition, said it would appeal the judgement.
It also said it was already addressing concerns raised by parents and others, and would continue to work on it.
