A joint security operation coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), involving the Nigerian military, the Department of State Services (DSS), operatives of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC), the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies, on Wednesday rescued 308 kidnapped victims across Kwara and Niger States.
Security sources described the operation as one of the largest and most successful multi-agency rescue missions in recent times, noting that coordinated operations were simultaneously conducted in the affected states, leading to the safe recovery of all the victims.
According to the sources, 163 victims were rescued from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, while 145 others were freed during a separate operation in Niger State, bringing the total number of rescued victims to 308.
The sources added that all the rescued victims have been evacuated and are currently receiving medical attention and undergoing necessary assessments at the Military Medical Facility, Wawa Cantonment, New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger State.
The operation underscores the growing synergy among Nigeria’s security and intelligence agencies under the coordination of ONSA in tackling kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes across the country.
