The Delta State chapter of the Action Peoples Party (APP) has successfully conducted its state congress, producing a new leadership through a consensus process.
The congress took place in Asaba on Sunday, April 26, 2026, under the supervision of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking on behalf of the newly elected executives, State Chairman Hon. Okaegwu Isioma Peter expressed appreciation to INEC officials, party leaders, and supporters for their roles in ensuring a smooth and successful exercise.
He pledged to lead with integrity, fairness, and inclusiveness, assuring members that his administration would carry everyone along while fostering unity within the party.
He described the congress as peaceful and well-attended, noting that members were properly sensitized ahead of the exercise.
“Our congress has just been concluded successfully, and it was a consensus arrangement. The turnout was impressive, and members were satisfied with the process,” he said.
Commenting on preparations for the 2027 general elections, the APP chairman commended INEC’s readiness, expressing confidence in the commission’s ability to conduct free and fair elections.
“At both the national and state levels, our party is not among those calling for the resignation of the INEC chairman. From what we have seen, the commission is well-prepared. Much of what is being said elsewhere may be speculation,” he added.
He urged Nigerians, particularly residents of Delta State, to take an active role in the electoral process by registering for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participating fully in the 2027 elections.
“Citizens should not only vote but also ensure their votes count. It is important to register, come out on election day, and protect the integrity of the process,” he advised.
Hon. Okaegwu also expressed strong optimism about the party’s electoral prospects, stating that the Action Peoples Party (APP) was well-positioned to win the governorship and other elective positions in Delta State in the 2027 general elections.
He noted that the successful and peaceful conduct of the congress reflects the unity, growing structure, and grassroots acceptance of the party across the state.
According to him, the consensus-driven leadership has further strengthened internal cohesion, which he described as a key factor for electoral success.
He added that with continued mobilization, voter education, and active participation of members, the APP is confident of emerging victorious at the polls.
He promised to offer credible leadership and good governance to the people of Delta State.
