The Delta State Government, through the Ministry of Health, has warned prospective students against fraudulent messages offering admission into Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes at the state-owned Colleges of Nursing Sciences.
The ministry said the messages, reportedly circulated from telephone numbers 08146382224 and 08135875941, did not originate from the Delta State Ministry of Health or any of its institutions.
In a statement signed by Mrs. Stella Macaulay, Director of Public Communication/Functioning Permanent Secretary, the ministry urged members of the public to disregard the messages and refrain from making payments, submitting personal information or engaging in any transaction based on their contents.
The ministry explained that admission into the state-owned Colleges of Nursing Sciences in Eku, Agbor, Warri, Sapele and Asaba is conducted strictly in accordance with approved procedures of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
It added that screening and other admission processes are handled by the respective colleges in line with established guidelines.
The ministry also clarified that it has no affiliation, partnership, supervisory role or admission arrangement with any private nursing institution.
It warned that any admission offer, communication or representation made by a private institution should not be construed as having the endorsement or approval of the Delta State Ministry of Health.
The ministry urged applicants and the general public to rely solely on information released through its official communication channels and those of the respective state-owned Colleges of Nursing Sciences.
It also stated that it would not be held liable for any loss, inconvenience or consequences arising from dealings with unauthorised persons or organisations, or from acting on fraudulent admission messages.
