Partner-group of City Boy Movement, the Bridge for Renewed Hope, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiatives aimed at expanding affordable digital access for Nigerian students, describing the provision of free internet data as a significant intervention that will support learning, research and academic development across the country.
Speaking on the policy set to take off soon, former Director-General of Atiku Youth Wing and currently Director-General of The Bridge for Renewed Hope, Hon. Rowland Odih said the initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Tinubu administration to empowering young Nigerians with the tools required to compete effectively in an increasingly digital global economy.
According to him, “access to affordable and reliable internet connectivity is no longer a luxury but an essential component of modern education, particularly for students who depend on online resources, digital libraries, virtual classrooms and educational platforms to complement their studies.”
He further said the initiative would have a direct impact on students from less-privileged backgrounds who often struggle with the cost of internet data while trying to access educational materials and pursue academic opportunities online.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is demonstrating that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not just about physical infrastructure; it is also about investing in the human capital of our young people and ensuring that Nigerian students are not left behind in the digital age.
“By expanding students’ access to internet, the Federal Government is opening the door to knowledge, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and countless opportunities that exist in the digital economy,” Rowland stated.
The Bridge for Renewed Hope Director-General further noted that Nigerian youths and students constitute a critical component of the country’s population and must therefore be given policies that address their educational and economic aspirations.
He urged students to take advantage of the opportunities being provided by the Federal Government, particularly in education, digital skills, entrepreneurship and access to technology, while encouraging them to remain informed about government programmes designed to improve their welfare.
Odih also expressed optimism that the positive impact of the administration’s youth and student-focused policies would translate into strong political support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He said Nigerian students, particularly young people who are direct beneficiaries of the administration’s interventions, would in their millions overwhelmingly support the President based on what he described as tangible policies and programmes rather than political rhetoric.
“The Nigerian student is discerning. Our students can see the difference between promises and policies that directly affect their lives.
“When students receive support that makes it easier for them to learn, conduct research, acquire digital skills and prepare themselves for the future, they will remember the Government that made those opportunities possible.
“I am confident that Nigerian students will overwhelmingly vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 because they will vote for continuity, opportunity and a Government that is investing in their future,” he added.
Rowland urged young Nigerians to remain hopeful and constructive partners in the nation-building process, stressing that the future of Nigeria depends significantly on the ability of the government and young people to work together.
He reaffirmed the commitment of The Bridge for Renewed Hope to mobilising young Nigerians across the country to support policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration as they promote education, employment, digital inclusion, entrepreneurship and economic opportunities.
