Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu will not shy away from taking difficult decisions in the nation’s interest, expressing confidence that his administration will deliver greater prosperity if re-elected in 2027.
She said the President remained committed to making tough choices in the long-term interest of the country, adding that his administration was transitioning from economic reforms to a new phase focused on improving the living conditions of Nigerians.
The First Lady spoke on Saturday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, during the grand rally of the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network, organised to mobilise support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
In a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, Oluremi said the President’s October 1 Independence Day address, titled “From Reforms to Prosperity,” outlined the administration’s determination to translate its economic policies into tangible benefits for Nigerians.
According to her, the government’s priority was now to ensure that the reforms introduced since Tinubu assumed office yielded improved economic conditions and greater prosperity for citizens.
She expressed optimism about the economy, citing developments in the foreign exchange market and what she described as renewed investor interest in Nigeria.
The First Lady also commended state governors for their efforts in infrastructure development and agricultural support, saying their initiatives were contributing to the country’s economic transformation.
She highlighted the government’s food bank programme, which she said was designed to provide nutritional support for children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, particularly those facing malnutrition.
“The Independence Day message of Mr President was titled ‘From Reforms to Prosperity.’ Therefore, Mr President is saying that they are going to reform the sector, but now is the time for prosperity, and we can see our economy is stabilising,” she said.
She added that the government was working to ensure that vulnerable Nigerians, particularly mothers and children, had access to nutritious food and the necessary treatment for malnutrition.
Urging supporters to take the administration’s message to their respective states, Oluremi described President Tinubu as a bold leader who was prepared to make difficult decisions for the country’s long-term benefit.
“He is a leader who can be trusted to lead us into prosperity. Build a stronger economy, safer communities and a greater Nigeria,” she said.
The First Lady subsequently urged Nigerians to support the continuity of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in the 2027 general election.
“Therefore, vote for continuity, vote for capacity, vote for prosperity, vote for the re-election of Mr President and all the candidates of the APC from top to bottom,” she said.
