Dear Esteemed Stakeholder,
I write to formally notify you of my intention to contest for the position of Member, Federal House of Representatives, Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency, on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 general elections.
I am a proud son of Mba’ajirakaa Council Ward, Tarka Local Government Area, Benue State, with a deep-rooted commitment to the progress, unity, and wellbeing of our people.
My decision to seek this mandate is anchored on a firm conviction in my capacity, competence, exposure, maturity, and preparedness to provide effective and impactful representation. I am a seasoned journalist and author, including Aper Aku: The Rise of Minority Politics in Nigeria, among other titles, with a lifelong engagement in public affairs and governance.
I bring to this aspiration extensive legislative and executive experience. Between 2003 and 2011, I served at the National Assembly as Senior Legislative Aide to Rep. Farouk Lawan. From 2011 to 2015, I was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. These years afforded me firsthand insight into legislative processes, lawmaking, oversight, and constituency representation.
Further, from 2015 to 2023, I served in various capacities in the administration of former Governor Samuel Ortom, culminating in my appointment as Chief Press Secretary from November 1, 2021 to May 29, 2023, a role I discharged with diligence and professionalism.
With this depth of experience, I am confident in my ability to attract meaningful legislative dividends, champion people-oriented bills, and effectively articulate the interests of Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
If elected, I am committed to initiating and supporting developmental programmes that address the real needs of our constituents, strengthen our communities, advance the growth of Benue State, and contribute constructively to national development.
I pledge to conduct my campaign and, God willing, my service in strict adherence to the Constitution, democratic principles, accountability, and inclusiveness. With the collective support of our people and the structures of our great party, I am confident that we can deliver transformative and responsive representation for Gboko/Tarka.
