The All Progressives Congress, APC, flagbearer for Ika South Local Government Constituency into the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), for the 2027 general election cycle, Hon. Mrs Cordilia Anyagwu, has applauded the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwwori, for the recent State Economic and Investment Summit in Asaba.
She said that the summit reflected the commitment of the state governor to truly diversify the economy of the state away from crude oil dependency.
Anyagwu, in a brief media chat, said the summit was a milestone in the annals of the state.
She said the strategic value of the summit revolves around its many significant elements, including the timing, the slant, the scale of participation as well as the underlying preparatory actions of the state government.
Acknowledging that the summit held at a time when global attention was increasingly turning away from fossil fuels, the mainstay of the state ‘s economy, to more environment -friendly alternatives, the summit, with regard to its timing, depicts the vision of the government, under the watch of Oborevwwori, to plan well ahead of time, for the economic stability of the state over the long haul.
The APC flag bearer also said that the comprehensive theme of the summit, which covered the various natural minerals of the state, its arable soil and its peacefulness, speaks to the desire of the administration to harness all resources available in the state for its sustainable growth and development.
Anyagwu also said that the large scale participation of prospective and existing investors from within and outside the country also speaks to the ability of the state government to efficiently market the state and its resource potentials.
She said that the fact that some of the attendees had shown active interest in investing in specific areas of the economy testified to the efficiency of the summit for which the administration deserves accolades.
Anyagwu said that the fruits of the summit, which, she said, would fall in due course, would yield thousands of sustainable direct jobs for Deltans, aside from opening new income streams for the state government and its citizens.
The APC flag bearer particularly commended the state government for providing $100m (about N135billion) to de- risk investments in the state.
She urged Deltans and other residents of the state to sustain their support for the state government.
