The Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has congratulated the Government and people of Delta State on the occasion of the state’s 35th anniversary, describing the milestone as a celebration of resilience, progress and the enduring spirit of Deltans.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Jonathan Onwuka, Ehiwarior said the 35th anniversary provides an opportunity to appreciate the journey of Delta State since its creation while renewing the collective commitment to building a more prosperous and inclusive future.
He acknowledged the contributions of successive administrations, public servants, traditional rulers , community leaders, private-sector actors and other Deltans whose efforts, in different ways, have shaped the state over the past three and a half decades.
The Chairman particularly commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his commitment to development across the state, noting that the administration’s MORE Agenda continues to provide a framework for addressing infrastructure needs, economic development, harness of human capital and the welfare of the people.
Ehiwarior said Ika South remained proud of its place in the Delta story, stressing that the people of the local government have continued to contribute significantly to the social, economic and political development of the state.
He called on Deltans to see the anniversary not merely as a commemoration of the past, but as an invitation to strengthen the bonds of unity and work collectively towards a future where every community and every citizen has a greater stake in the state’s progress.
According to him, the strength of Delta lies in its people and diversity as well as the determination of citizens to overcome challenges and create better opportunities for generations yet unborn.
He wished Governor Oborevwori, members of the State Executive Council, the Delta State House of Assembly, traditional institutions, local government councils and all Deltans a memorable 35th anniversary celebration.
“On behalf of the government and people of Ika South Local Government, I warmly congratulate all Deltans on 35 years of our dear state.
“May we continue to advance in peace, unity and prosperity, and may the years ahead bring greater opportunities and improved quality of life of our people,” the Chairman stated.
