A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Dr. Kelechi Anosike, has pledged to run a welfarist and people-oriented government if elected in the 2027 governorship election.
Anosike made the promise while addressing a cross-section of journalists in Abuja, stating that his administration would prioritize the welfare of the people through policies and programmes designed to improve their quality of life.
According to him, he is the candidate capable of returning the PDP to power in Abia State and restoring effective governance.
He unveiled what he described as a seven-point “Pillar of Hope” agenda aimed at transforming the state. The pillars include economic welfare, social protection, affordable healthcare, quality education, youth welfare and employment, agriculture, and massive infrastructure development.
The PDP chieftain said agriculture would receive special attention under his administration through the introduction of “Operation Feed Abia State,” a programme designed to boost food production and enhance food security.
Anosike also emphasized the importance of human capital development, noting that Abia State is not poor but has suffered from poor management over the years.
He further promised to open up the state to local and foreign investors by creating an enabling environment for business and economic growth.
The governorship aspirant lamented that although the removal of fuel subsidy by President significantly increased revenues accruing to sub-national governments, many state administrations have failed to translate the additional resources into tangible benefits for their citizens.
He assured the people of Abia that under his leadership, the state would witness accelerated development and improved living standards.
“Abia will be greater, better, and more prosperous under my administration,” he stated.
