……says Kano will be heavily contested between Tinubu and Atiku
According to a report by The Sun on Sunday, July 5, 2026, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele, the Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has said that the North will vote in favour of Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the ADC, in the forthcoming 2027 Presidential election.
He made the remarks on Friday in Lagos during the public presentation of the 2026/2027 edition of Warnings to the Nations, his annual publication containing prophecies for nations, governments, institutions and individuals across the world.
During the unveiling of the latest edition of Warnings to the Nations, Primate Ayodele addressed a number of national issues, including governance, security and the political climate ahead of the 2027 general election.
The cleric released predictions concerning the 2027 presidential election, stating that the northern region would play the decisive role in determining who eventually emerges as Nigeria’s next president.
According to him, no presidential candidate would be able to dominate the region completely, making the North the major battleground in the race for the presidency.
Primate Ayodele said the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, would encounter difficulties in making major electoral gains across the North. He also stated that President Bola Tinubu would face intense competition in the region, indicating that neither candidate would enjoy overwhelming support from northern voters during the election.
He further predicted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would receive stronger backing in the North, attributing the expected support to the influence of traditional rulers, elder statesmen and the international community.
According to him, these factors would strengthen Atiku’s position as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The cleric also identified Kano and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as two of the key locations that would significantly influence the outcome of the election.
He said Kano would remain highly competitive, particularly between Tinubu and Atiku, while Abuja would witness a three-way contest involving Tinubu, Atiku and Peter Obi, making both locations strategically important in the electoral process.
“The North will determine the outcome of the election. No candidate will secure total dominance in Kano. Whoever wins Kano will gain a significant advantage. I foresee Peter Obi being shortchanged in Kano. Kano will be a fierce contest between Tinubu and Atiku, while Abuja will be a battleground for Tinubu, Atiku and Obi. I do not foresee Obi securing 25 per cent of the votes in Abuja,” he said.
